What is Your Favourite Genre?

My favourite genre is a definite toss up between historical fiction and fantasy fiction.  Yes, I know I complain about fantasy a lot, but there is a lot of unique stuff out there when you look.  But what I want to know is, what’s your favourite genre?  And if you have time, why is it your favourite genre?  Please vote and tell me in the comments below!

I don’t know what you would call my favorite genre besides realistic fiction. I usually go for books where the main character overcomes a huge obstacle. Like coming out of the closet, getting over a drug addiction, things like that interest me. I learn from those experiences and become a stronger person. Maybe you’d call that genre Realistic Drama. Hahaha, I’m not sure.

Realistic fiction is what reviewers usually call it. Realistic fiction can be very powerful when it’s written properly, as you say in instances where the character overcomes a large obstacle.

My favourite genres are a toss up between historical fiction (which I voted for) and literary fiction, but I also enjoy fantasy (if that includes paranormal) and romance, as long as it’s not Harlequin Romance.

Fantasy and science fiction are pretty good genres. I didn’t put them in one category because I feel they are a world apart and some people who like fantasy don’t like science fiction. Maybe it’s just because I’m weird. Oh well.

My favorite genres are literary fiction and science fiction, though I also quite enjoy fantasy. So I guess my favorite genre of all would be sci-fi that reads like literary fiction.
