Your Open Book Promotion Thread

I haven’t had one of these in a while so I figured it was about time for another one.  Basically it goes like this: are you an author?  If so, then you’re probably looking for new readers for your books.  Well, it just so happens that a lot of readers here are looking for good new books.  All you have to do is tell them about your book.  What it’s all about, why they should read it, what genre, etc.  You can have up to three buy links if you want as well but your comments may not be released until noon when I have a chance to check up on things.

There are only two rules:

1.  Don’t disparage another author or their books.

2.  Have fun!

So go on and promote away!

Dangerous Reflections: Published with Booktrope June 2014

Travel back in time with Alexis as she tries to save us from a mad man intent on changing the past…and our futures.

Teaser: “Alex stared into his dark eyes, and they held her in their grasp. She couldn’t look away. Her throat closed so tight that each breath she took wheezed in her chest. Her heart galloped and her mind raced. The blood scared her. I didn’t think he cut Jefferson that badly!
But his lifeless eyes scared her more.
There was no life there, no caring, no compassion. He would feel as bad about killing her as he would about squashing an ant beneath his shoe.
Alex was certain he was going to kill her.”

Hi Carrie, thanks for the open post. This is awesome. I totally appreciate it. I’m developing a paranormal trilogy called The Sanctum and have published books one and two, The Girl and The Boy, and am currently working on the finale, The Prophecy.

Here’s a little more about The Sanctum:
The Sanctum, an all-powerful governing body founded by ten families, entrusted to maintain the peace amongst Magicals and ensure the ignorance of humans, has been corrupted by greed and savagery for generations, but is all Wyatt Clayworth has ever known.

A descendant of one of the Founding Families and Class A Warrior, Wyatt has always believed in the ways of The Sanctum, having grown up in the system and thrived under their leadership. A golden boy, renowned for his prowess and skill in battle, Wyatt has never questioned a mission or kill order until the night he crosses paths with a brutally injured and mysterious girl.

Scouring Central Park with his best friend and fellow Class A Warrior, Ryker Morrison, for the hybrid demon prophesied to bring an end to The Sanctum and destroy the world for Magicals and humans alike, Wyatt instead finds Dev and his whole life turns upside down. Told he was hunting a killing machine, hellbent on wreaking havoc and destruction upon all it encounters, Wyatt instead sees nothing more than a broken girl with haunted eyes and a bit of a death wish.

All Dev wants is for Wyatt to either kill her or leave her alone. When he refuses to do either, she finds herself being pulled into his life while being hunted by warriors everywhere she turns. Drawn to one another for reasons they cannot begin to explain to themselves, much less anyone else, Wyatt is determined to protect Dev and help her realize her mission to avenge the deaths of her family at the hands of The Sanctum.

Set against the backdrop of New York City, THE GIRL is “outstanding, original, complex, deep and intoxicating”, a “well written, unique…fast-paced read” that begins as one girl’s simple quest for revenge and evolves into a complicated tale of trust, friendship, honor and love.

And the journey only becomes more perilous and intense as the trilogy surges forward with THE BOY, “another masterpiece in The Sanctum trilogy”, certain to “keep you up all night reading.” Can you cross the plains of death, collect every piece of your soul and make it back to the land of the living? And if you complete the journey, will your loved ones welcome your return?

If you’re a fan of Laini Taylor, Veronica Rossi, Marissa Meyer and the like, you’ll be right at home. And if not, check it out anyway…you never know.

They’re both available on Amazon for either Kindle or in paperback:

    Thanks again, Carrie!

    You rock.

  5. Margaret

All right! My name’s Margaret Taylor and most recently I’m the author of Cannon Fodder.

Cannon Fodder takes place in a world where the rules of storytelling – i.e., that the good guys always win – are actual laws of physics. Alec Nightshade, evil overlord in training, is sick and tired of all his loved ones getting killed at climactic moments. He sets off on a plan to change the system, but of course it doesn’t go the way he expected.

You can get the book here:

But just so you know, I’m very liberal about giving away free review copies. Just drop me a line via my blog and we can work out a deal.

This is awesome! I’m Kayti Nika Raet and my series is called The Outsider Chronicles and two books in the series is currently published (Niko and Harm), with the lastest one coming out some time in September.

It’s a YA dystopian novel in which seventeen year old Niko struggles to provide for her two younger brothers in a post-apocalyptic landscape where the rain burns like acid, food grows scarce, and any Slither that crosses her path is laid low before it can sink its teeth into her.
Then one night everything she’s ever worked for, everything she’s ever loved is consumed by a raging fire, leaving her with one brother dead, the other missing and herself gravely injured.
She’s rescued by the Rose Circle, a rogue group of Slither hunters. They sneak her into Amaryllis City, a decadent metropolis where those able to afford the exorbitant entrance fee live a life of relative ease.
But for Niko, Amaryllis City is not the haven she grew up believing it would be, the deeper she delves the nastier it gets and when her unique abilities as a Slither hunter are discovered things get positively filthy.
All Niko ever wanted to do was find her baby brother but that’s proving to be harder than she ever would have expected.

Thanks for the opportunity, Carrie! I have one YA (first in a series) and an historical fiction currently available.

“Miranda’s Magic”, Young Adult, 54,000 words
What if you had powers that were … well, like a witch? You know, moving things around without touching them, making plants grow in minutes, changing electrical currents—little things like that. At first, learning the family secret is fun and exciting for soon-to-be fourteen Miranda Hutton. But what if her ability to control the elements around her suddenly becomes a matter of survival? And what if—OMG!—the complete extent of her powers depends on her knowledge of science?

    “Zenobia” Historical Fiction, 81,000 words
In the 3rd Century AD, the beautiful seventeen-year-old Zenobia, said to be a descendant of Cleopatra VII, marries Odaenathus, the prince of Palmyra. While Odaenathus leads the Assyrian army to meet the Persians in battle, Zenobia welcomes and entertains the new Roman emperor, Aurelian. The two are mutually attracted and begin a torrid love affair. Shortly after Odaenathus’ triumphant return, he and his oldest son are assassinated. A sword of the Imperial Guard is found at the scene of the murder. Zenobia believes Aurelian had Odaenathus murdered because of the growing threat to his fledgling power. Outraged, she swears revenge. Over the next five years, as Aurelian is battling invaders from the north and then from Brittania, Zenobia raises an army that conquers the entire Eastern Roman Empire. But can she hold on to what she has gained? And is it worth the cost?
