Discussion: Book Releases You’re Looking Forward To

Every avid reader has a series they just love and cannot wait to finish.  The waiting, even though it’s usually only a couple of years, seems like forever.  You obsessively check Goodreads to check and re-check the expected publication date, you talk to your fellow fans, you stalk the author’s blog just to see if they’ve made any announcement pertaining to their next book.  Yes folks, that’s the level of obsession I’m talking about.

I’m really only that way with a few books.  Most notably, The Winds of Winter by George R. R. Martin (which is not going to be released this year, argh!), Hidden Huntress by Danielle L. Jensen, Prophecy of the Betrayed Heir by Diantha Jones (hurry up, you crazy busy lady!) and whatever book comes after Shadow Dragon in the Shapeshifter Dragon series by Marc Secchia.  I actually have rapport with the last two authors so I can playfully bug them once in a while but being able to do that makes the wait for traditionally published books even harder now.  I can’t exactly email George R. R. Martin and ask when he’s finally going to write his next book!

So what books are you super looking forward to?  Why?  How long have you waited?

I’m really looking forward to the sequels for both Ashlee Willis’s The Word Changers and Ness Kingsley’s Our Intrepid Heroine. Along with Marissa Meyer’s Winter, of course, and Melanie Dickerson’s new series. 😀
I must say the thing I’m most excited about right now is Avengers: Age of Ultron, though…

There are quite a few I’m waiting on impatiently, but I’m most excited about ‘The Scarlet Gospels’ by Clive Barker. I can’t believe he’s written a Harry D’Amour / Pinhead crossover novel and I cannot wait to read it! I hate waiting at the best of times but finding out something so awesome is due out and having to wait for it just drives me totally crazy. I will be re-reading ‘The Hellbound Heart’ and re-watching ‘Lord of Illusions’ very soon, to tide me over until May 🙂

Yeah, I love re-reading and re-watching books or TV shows in preparation for the new book or the new season. Which means I get to spend the weekend after Walking Dead ends and before Game of Thrones begins re-watching season 4 as well as re-reading the books again. I keep forgetting just how different the books are from the series sometimes.

I’m keenly awaiting the final book in Patrick Rothfuss’ Kingkiller trilogy, which started with The Name of the Wind, and its sequel, The Wise Man’s Fear. I believe the third book will be The Doors of Stone, but don’t hold me to that. Regardless of the name, I want to read it.

Right now I’m addicted to the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas, and can’t wait for the next installment, “Queen of Shadows,” to come out later this year. However, I’ll be waiting for quite a while as it won’t be released until September.

Not a series, but I’m looking forward to Martin Millar’s ‘Goddess of Buttercups and Daisies’. Millar is such a great talent but pretty under the radar. I think the book is coming to the US in May…

I know how you feel! I love all of Marc Secchia’s books but since he’s self-published he really slips under the radar to most readers when in fact his books are better than 90% of the traditionally published ones out there. They’re just fantastic and unique with such amazingly strong female main characters. More people should read his books!

And thank you for the mention of Millar. I may just go check out some of his work now!
