Krystal Wade is the author of Wilde’s Fire, one of the few fantasy books that I love.  So imagine my delight when she agreed to do an interview!  For all you folks out there that might want to buy Wilde’s Fire, it’s coming out on May 13 of this year.  Go ahead and pre-order it; you won’t regret it.

The fantasy world you’ve created is definitely one of the more unique ones.  Where did you get the idea from?

Wilde’s Fire started off as an image of a girl in a dense, green forest, reaching out her finger to touch something shimmering. The image of this girl wouldn’t go away, so I decided to write. When it came time to figure out where this shimmering thing (the portal) was leading her to, I was clueless . . . in the dark, if you will. I couldn’t see anything in my head, so I made Encardia a world ravaged by Darkness! Hey, if you can’t see it, make it dark! 😉

How many books will the series end up having?

Darkness Falls is a trilogy, and I’m nearing completion on the third.
(And of course, I have to ask a cliche question.)  What advice would you give to aspiring writers?

Just keep writing. You may not be able to sit down every day and pound out a few thousand words, but you can sit down and write one-hundred or two-hundred. If you write…even if only a tiny bit…your muse will love you!
What would you say are your biggest writing influences?

Well, believe it or not, Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Suzanne Collins (yes, I know, she’s new, but still….)–I could go on, but these are the most influential of my writing.
Other than Katriona, who would you say was your favourite character and why?

Flanna. She’s funny, witty, and is willing to say anything most of us would be too afraid to say: the truth!
Can you give any hints about your other projects on your Coming Soon page?

I’ll give you a hint about the unnamed Urban Fantasy (And I’m really struggling to come up with a name for this one. I want the title to be about a book, but I’m just not sure how to do it.) The main character in this story is based off my 5 yo daughter’s personality; they also share a name.
