Giveaway: Starlet’s Web & Starlet’s Run by Carla J. Hanna

Well, it’s now my first giveaway of the new year!  About time, right?  So let’s jump into things:

PRIZES

One prize pack consisting of print copies of Starlet’s Web and Starlet’s Run, the first two books in the Starlet series by Carla J. Hanna.  These will be shipped directly from Amazon.com, Amazon.ca and Amazon.uk.  Sorry guys!  Print copies cost money and authors aren’t exactly made of it, so I’m limiting entries to those three countries.

RULES

1.  This giveaway will run from 12:00am CST on April 15 until 11:59pm CST on April 28.  Winners will be announced on Monday, April 29.

2.  The winner will be picked by Carla J. Hanna based on their answers to both of the questions below.  Yes, this is completely subjective.  She may pick winners based on how thoughtful, funny, serious, etc. their answers were; it’s completely up to Carla.

3.  If the winner does not respond to Carla’s email within 5 days, a new winner will be picked.

4.  All you have to do to enter is answer both of Carla’s questions below!  Make sure your profile has your email address included so that I can contact you if you win.

THE QUESTIONS

1: The Heavy: The film and publishing businesses say they reflect the escape the audience wants from reality, that successful fictional romance stories have violence and sex because that’s what the audience wants to feel emotions during the escape. Do you think either industry has a moral obligation to limit the “steam” or violence when targeting teens?

2. The Fun: With what young actress would you like to spend a day? Would you like to spend it on set or at her home?

A Big Thank You to the Following Authors

Not only is it you guys, my readers, that make blogging possible, it’s the wonderful authors I interact with.  I must admit that not every author has been the most pleasant person I’ve ever worked with, but they were definitely anomalies.  All the same, there are some amazing authors who have left big impressions on me because of their kindness, which is why I would like to thank the following people:

Andy Szpuk, Andrew Levkoff, Matt Myklusch, Tara West, Krystal Wade, John Heldt, Zeinab Alayan, Michelle Hansen, Steve Poling, Marcus Matherne and Henry Venmore-Rowland.

If I’ve left any people out it’s definitely my own fault and is more of a reflection of my poor memory than of anything else.  But a thanks like that is very generic, which is why I want to thank every one individually:

Andy Szpuk: Thanks so much for asking me to review your book.  It has now finally returned from my father and my uncle and they both loved it, which is a huge achievement since they’re both more critical than I am.

Andrew Levkoff: Thank you for the amazing interview and for being the first author I actually ‘knew’ whose book I reviewed.

Matt Myklusch: I can’t thank you enough for sending along  free signed copies of the last two books in your trilogy.  Thank you for paying the shipping to Canada and for the great interview.

Tara West: Thanks for being so cooperative and taking the time and money to send me a physical copy of your book.  I can’t wait to do a giveaway with you next year!

Krystal Wade: Well, what can I say?  I’m glad you contacted me after seeing my review and agreeing to not only do two interviews with me, but to give me access to bonus content for your upcoming books.  You’re still cruel for torturing me about Wilde’s Meadow, though.

John Heldt: Thank you for contacting me to review your first book and now the second book in your trilogy!  I admit that I really did have my doubts when I saw the time travel premise, but you pulled it off so well.

Zeinab Alayan: Thank you for everything!  The giveaway, the interview, for contacting me to review your book in the first place…I would have missed out on an amazing book if you hadn’t.

Michelle Hansen: You had the courage to contact a reviewer like me about my good review of your book and I really admire you for taking that chance.  Thank you for helping me host my first-ever giveaway and for doing such an amazing interview.

Steve Poling: Where do I start?  Thanks for doing an interview and being so generous when it came to handing out prizes for your giveaway.  I look forward to reading your work in the future.

Marcus Matherne: Thank you for brightening my day with My Status Update Journey!  Not many books can make me smile so much, but yours did and I hope it gets the attention it deserves online.

Henry Venmore-Rowland: Thank you for not judging me for my stupidity when I asked you about Septimius Severus when you had actually written about Aulus Caecina Severus.  Yes, I know, two completely different people.  After I sounded like a complete moron you still agreed to an interview and I’m very grateful for that.  Maybe I’ll find time to read your book soon!

So here’s a big thank you to everyone!  Thank you for making my book reviewing experience awesome and for making all of the hard work worth it.

Giveaway: Finding Time by Steve Poling

Like time travel?  Science fiction with actual science in it?  Great characters?  Then have I ever got a book for you!  Steve Poling graciously agreed to do a giveaway with me so we have two copies of Finding Time up for grabs in Kindle format only.  For my fellow Luddites all that means is you will have to download and read it through Amazon on your computer.

RULES:

1.  You must answer one or both of the questions provided.

2.  Your answer can be as serious/funny as you like.  There really is no wrong answer.

3.  You may enter only once.

PRIZES:

1.  Two Kindle versions of Finding Time.

One thing we’re doing differently this time is that Steve Poling will be picking his favourite answer, but we will also be using Random.org to randomly pick a winner.  So even if your answer is not Steve’s favourite, you have a chance at being chosen randomly based on the order of your comment because I will be using the random number generator.  Now here are the two questions:

1.  If you had a time machine, what would you rescue?

2.  If you could talk with just one historical figure (without all the nasty time travel related consequences) who would it be and why?

Today is November 20 and I will be closing the giveaway on November 27 November 30 (Update at 11:55am 21/11/12).  I will be announcing winners at 12:01am on December 1.  Make sure you have a valid email address attached to your account because I will be giving them to Steve Poling.  If he does not receive a reply from the winner(s) within seven days, the prizes will be going to someone else.

Luca’s Magic Embrace Giveaway

A Rafflecopter Giveaway

Giveaway Winners

Well, my first official giveaway has now come to a close.  The winners have been chosen.  For category #1, you had to name your favourite historical figure and tell me why.  For category #2, you had to name your favourite book and tell me why.  Since I love history, I chose the winner in category #1.  So, drumroll please.

The winner is Erin for her comment about poor Lady Jane Grey:

My favorite historical figure is Lady Jane Grey.  I’ve always felt bad for the fact that she was unwillingly made to be queen and then betrayed and executed such a short time later.  Now I wish that she wasn’t always so overlooked by history.  Most people don’t know who she is, or that she was handpicked by Edward VI to be queen, and nobody ever seems to wonder why he might have done that.

Since Michelle Hansen is an author and she is the one offering up a prize pack, she picked the winner in category #2.

The winner is James Wymore for his comment about Bluebeard by Kurt Vonnegut.

Bluebeard by Kurt Vonnegut is my favorite book.  It was the one I read that made me want to write books that meant something to people.

Winners, I have given your email addresses to Michelle and she will contact you soon about your prize packs.  Congratulations on winning and thank you to everyone who entered and tweeted about my first giveaway.  There will be more giveaways in the future, I can promise you that.
