The Week Ahead (#12)

I didn’t get to do one of these last week, so this Father’s Day I decided I should try to plan a little more in advance.

Monday

I, Morgana by Felicity Pulman

  • A review of I, Morgana by Felicity Pulman.  I saw this one on NetGalley and requested it on a whim and let’s just say it was not what I expected.  At all.

Tuesday

The Crimson Crown by Cinda Williams Chima

  • A review of The Crimson Crown by Cinda Williams Chima.  Her Seven Realms series just keeps getting better and better but I’ll admit I was a little worried about how she would end things off.  All in all I’m surprisingly satisfied with how she decided to end it, which is really all I can ask for in such a complicated series.

Wednesday

Sins of the Lost by Linda Poitevin

  • A review of Sins of the Lost by Linda Poitevin.  I actually got this through NetGalley months ago but didn’t have the time to read it.  So lately I made the time to reread the first two books and finally read this third book in the Grigori Legacy series.  But was it worth it?

Thursday

  • My interview with David Litwack.

Friday

  • Book Blast: The Cook’s Temptation by Joyce Wayne
  • Book Blast: Wilder Than the Rest by Shirleen Davis

Saturday

  • TBA

The Week Ahead (#11)

It’s been a heck of a week and since I just got finished watching today’s Game of Thrones episode I remembered that I should probably post today.  So here’s what’s happening this week:

Monday

The Runaway Highlander by R. L. Syme

  • A review of The Runaway Highlander by R. L. Syme.  This is not what I’d normally read but I’ve been feeling in an adventurous mood lately.

Tuesday

The False Princess by Eilis O'Neal

  • A review of The False Princess by Eilis O’Neal.  I saw this one in the library one day and it looked pretty good so I checked it out.  Hey, it was free and there’s usually not that many books I haven’t read in the local library.

Wednesday

If I Stay by Gayle Forman

  • A review of If I Stay by Gayle Forman.  Yep, I’m tackling yet another popular novel.  This one I borrowed from the library as well on a whim and I figured I’d see what all of the fuss is about.  Books rarely live up to the hype but maybe this one will be the exception.

Thursday

Stork by Wendy Delsol

  • A review of Stork by Wendy Delsol.  I tried reading this last week but a friend of mine snatched it out of my hands and started reading it instead (we often do this to each other, so it’s okay).  Now I finally have it back and have to read it in self-defense so she can talk to me about it without totally spoiling everything.

Friday

  • Book Blast: Murder by Misrule by Anna Castle
  • Book Blast: Paradise Coast by Renee Novelle

Saturday

  • The Mad Review Reading Challenge Halfway Check-In.

The Week Ahead (#8)

Last week was pretty review heavy but this week is only going to have 3.  Luckily, I’m having the wonderful Louise Turner over for an interview on Monday to keep things interesting.

Monday

  • An interview with Louise Turner, author of Fire and Sword.

Tuesday

Daughter of the Gods by Stephanie Thornton

  • A review of Daughter of the Gods by Stephanie Thornton.  I just couldn’t resist reading another take on Hatshepsut and when I saw Stephanie Thornton was touring with Historical Fiction Virtual Book Tours I signed up immediately.  Ancient Egypt is very, very hard to resist for me.
  • Cover Reveal: Black Orchid by Abigail Owen.

Wednesday

The Legend of the Blue Eyes by B. Kristin McMichael

  • A review of The Legend of the Blue Eyes by B. Kristin McMichael.  It was the cover that caught my attention on NetGalley and the blurb seemed full of promise so I figured I had nothing to lose in requesting it.  Maybe McMichael would have a new take on vampires.

Thursday

A Dangerous Madness by Michelle Diener

  • A review of A Dangerous Madness by Michelle Diener.  After seeing that I loved her Susanna Horenbout series so much, Michelle Diener invited me to read her latest book set in England in the 1800s.  Technically this is the third book in a series but they’re only a little bit related so you can read the books in any order.

Friday

  • Book Blast: Curses & Smoke by Vicky Alvear Shecter

Saturday

  • Discussion: Vampires.

The Week Ahead (#7)

Last week was pretty sparse reviews-wise in part because of that awesome guest post by Don Maker.  However, that left me plenty of time to read so this week is going to be review heavy.

Monday

Fire and Sword by Louise Turner

  • A review of Fire and Sword by Louise Turner.  I chose to review this for the blog tour and although it took me forever to finish it I enjoyed it thoroughly.  Scottish history is really not my strong point but I can confidently say that I learned something by reading this book!

Tuesday

In Defense of the Queen by Michelle Diener

  • A review of In Defense of the Queen by Michelle Diener.  I actually finished this book ages ago but I was so tightly scheduled in April that I couldn’t fit it in until now.  This is the third book in the Susanna Horenbout and John Parker series and after the cliffhanger of the second book I was very, very eager to start reading this one.

Wednesday

Mine to Spell by Janeal Falor

  • A review of Mine to Spell by Janeal Falor.  I loved the first book in this series, You Are Mine so when I heard Janeal Falor was sending out ARCs for the second book I snapped one up right away.  Cynthia is very different from Serena, the first book’s protagonist and at this point I really can’t say who I like more!  They’re both good.

Thursday

Shattered Secrets by Krystal Wade

  • A review of Shattered Secrets by Krystal Wade.  Way back when I started blogging I reviews Krystal Wade’s debut trilogy and loved it.  So how could I resist starting on her latest series?  My only worry was if it would live up to Wilde’s Fire.

Friday

The Curse by Jennifer Brassel

  • A review of The Curse by Jennifer Brassel.  This one was a guilty pleasure read that I requested on NetGalley.  I mean how could I resist ancient Egypt, romance and a little bit of mystery?

Saturday

  • Discussion: Violence in Literature.  How much is too much?

The Week Ahead (#6)

Last week was pretty chaotic but I think things have settled down enough that I can have a somewhat consistent posting schedule this week.  My life is still a mess but I guess I’ve just become accustomed to this new level of stress.  Life goes on, as the saying goes.

Monday

  • Guest Post: All History is Fiction.  At the beginning of the month an author of historical fiction contacted me offering to guest post so I’m very excited to finally be publishing his very thoughtful article.

Tuesday

Evermore by Alyson Noel

  • The missing review of Evermore by Alyson Noel.  I had intended to publish it on Thursday of last week but life got in the way so I’ll publish it this Tuesday.

Wednesday

After the End by Amy Plum

  • A review of After the End by Amy Plum.  I was lucky enough to receive a paperback ARC from the publisher of this novel so I can’t wait to finally be able to publish my review of the book.

Thursday

Sworn to Defiance by Terah Edun

  • The Best and Worst of April 2014.  It’s May 1 on Thursday so of course I’ll be adding another article to my Best and Worst of…series
  • A review of Sworn to Defiance by Terah Edun.  I’m more than a little scared about the last book in the series but at the same time I’m excited to see how things end up.

Friday

  • Cover Reveal: Blades of Illusion by Terah Edun.

Saturday

  • Discussion: Separating the Creator From Their Work.  Is it possible to separate an author or artist whose views you disagree with from their work that you love?
