The Walking Dead Discussion Thread: “Crossed”

I hadn’t really intended on straying from books so much, but hey, Sundays are lazy days for me.  So let’s talk about one of the most popular shows on TV: The Walking Dead.

I really loved last Sunday’s episode.  We got to see so much more character development on both of their parts.  I like the idea that both of them are struggling to move on from their painful pasts.  For them, the apocalypse was a sort of second chance, a chance to fit into the new normal and have a whole new family to replace the awful ones they came from.  And the fact that we got to see Atlanta again, particularly how nature is reclaiming the man-made structures.  It was sort of depressing bonus, but a bonus nonetheless.

The cliffhanger ending at the end of ‘Consumed’ is partly why I’m so psyched for ‘Crossed’.  But there’s more to it than that:

To me, it looks like Daryl and Noah are going to go back to the church and get Rick and the group to come storm the hospital.  Carol’s life is still in danger because of her injuries, though.  Will they make it in time?  And will everyone make it out alive?

I’m not sure.  What do you guys think?

For those of you who are new to the blog, today is my birthday.  Normally that wouldn’t be relevant except for the fact that every year on my birthday I write an off-topic essay on things that I’m passionate about.  Here’s a little sampler:

2012: Bullying: An Issue Near and Dear to my Heart

2013: I am More Than Just a Chronic Pain Statistic

So if today you don’t want to read an off-topic post, just proceed to my review of Aranya by Marc Secchia.  If you do, stay tuned because I’m going to talk about change, small town hatred and what it’s like to taste freedom.

A Minor Posting Note

I’m not going to be posting a review today and the only thing I’ll be posting tomorrow is my Best and Worst of September article.  There’s a pretty nasty stomach bug travelling around my community and of course I got it.  So obviously I’m not going to be around here very much for the next few days.  Mostly I’ll be sleeping and feeling sorry for myself.

See you guys later and may your own health be better than mine!

Oh, and here’s a picture of my cute kitten Tyrion to make up for the lack of a review:

It’s Official: The Mad Reviewer is Attending BEA 2015!

I’m so excited that I feel like bouncing up and down like I’m three years old once again.  I’ve managed to put away enough money that I can say with 95% certainty that I will be attending Book Expo America in New York in May 2015!  I’m planning on attending the Bloggers Conference for the first day and then meandering around the convention for the second and third days.  There will be meet-ups (hopefully) with any of you that want to meet in the flesh and I’ll also be taking a little time to actually experience New York.  I desperately want to go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and watch either (or both) tapings for Last Week Tonight and The Daily Show.

Are any of you guys attending BEA 2015?  If not, would you ever attend a convention like that?  Why or why not?
